This is probably because Keira Knightly stars in both
Plot
Helen embarks on a passionate affair with a man who has no idea what her secret identity is. Caught in the crosshairs when her lover falls victim to London’s dangerous underworld, Helen’s employer calls in Sam to protect her. There’s a scene where the characters are discussing their favorite Christmas movies. Neither of them mentions Love, Actually, a very popular Christmas movie.
The dark, dry humor that the British are good at
Graham Norton highlights and likes: Cher/Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender/Josh Brolin/Jalen Ngonda (2024). I binge-watched it shortly after it came out and found myself losing interest a few times. It has a touch of Guy Ritchie, but it’s nowhere near The Gentlemen f.i. It’s probably important for future viewers that it has a comedic component.
I’m trying to think about what could have made the show better
I think the reason it loses interest is that the plot is chaotic and hard to follow at times. Not because it’s a great piece of writing, but because they’re delivering the substance of the story in a chaotic, even confusing way. You’re trying to hold on to the thread, but sometimes you wonder what exactly it was. And in my opinion, there are too many characters that overcrowd the plot and the show as a whole.
But it misses the point
And it’s the plot that’s not well-written and what could have made it great. Maybe they created the chaos on purpose to give it an edge and more comedic value. It’s not bad, but it’s definitely not good either. I wouldn’t pick up a second season.
It’s just so flawed in so many ways
And by the way, it’s not the fault of the two lead actors. Don’t waste your time scrolling endlessly — here’s the full schedule of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month.
